Hydroplane Racing

Nowadays the world of sports is gaining a huge impact all over the world. Different countries and nations have different set of favorite sports in accordance with the theme of their respective cultures and the taste and preferences of their people. A very important category of sports could be water sports. In the current scenario, water sports have managed to entrench a great presence on the international scene, managing to take the entire world sports industry by storm. There are many kinds of water sports and most of them are really popular in the international mass market. One of these popular water sports is hydroplane racing. Another name for hydroplane racing is hydro racing. Basically hydroplane racing is a very popular water sport that involves the race of hydroplanes on lakes and/ or rivers. In a number of countries, hydroplane boat racing is quite a sport in terms of popularity with the masses.

There are both limited hydroplane racing as well as unlimited hydroplane racing. While the limited hydroplane racing involves the use of several size classes (for the exclusive sake of fair competition). In this case, limited hydroplane boat racing bears a strong resemblance to boxing weight classes. In the jurisdiction of the European Union, it is the U.I.M, which has taken the initiative to govern a wide range of classes, inclusive of OSY-400 classes (they are stock racing by nature) as well as F-125 along with F-250, F-350 and also F-500. All of these classes are affordable by nature and the participants could achieve speeds as high as the rate of hundred miles per hour.

As for the unlimited hydroplane racing, the real popularity of this type of hydroplane racing sees itself coming true in the northwester region of the United States, inclusive of states like California (which is one of the largest states of the United States, population wise) and also Quebec, which is in Canada. It is believed that during the year 2008, a new race would be added in South Dakota. In addition to that, there are several other differences between a limited hydroplane race and an unlimited hydroplane race. For starters, during the carriage of an unlimited hydroplane race schedule, the extent of restrictions is far lesser as what was the case in limited hydroplane racing. This signifies even more strongly as to why this category of hydroplane racing is referred to as unlimited hydroplane racing. The most notable and prominent difference, however, between the limited version of hydroplane racing and the unlimited version of hydroplane racing is that of the sizes of the engines. While in the carriage of limited hydroplane racing engines that are used belong to the F-500 class while in the course of involving in the unlimited version of hydroplane racing, the engines are 750ci on a general basis.

As in the context of safety, just like every other sport (be it a water sport or a sport of another nature), the hydroplane racing sport also has its set of precautionary measures that need to be incorporated and abided by strictly and firmly in order to ensure the safety of the people participating in the sport of hydroplane racing (be it limited hydroplane racing or unlimited hydroplane racing). These safety measures and precautions were designed specifically as a lesson learned from the initial phases of hydroplane racing, which were inclusive of many accidents and sometimes also resulted in the deaths of the participants (the drivers). And what was the most unfortunate aspect of this sport was the fact that nothing was being done to encumber those dangerous happenings and instead these things were considered part of the sport. Thankfully things have changed for the better and now hydroplaning racing is quite a safe sport.
